The Handmaid’s Tale sequel series pulls off something impressive: it feels like a natural next chapter instead of a cash in. Set years after Gilead’s peak, it follows a new generation of young women inside and outside the regime, and the generational clash gives the story fresh teeth.
Ann Dowd returning as Aunt Lydia is the anchor, and the show uses her brilliantly, complicating a character you thought you had fully figured out. It is grim in places, as the material demands, but it is never hopeless.
Our take: 8/10.
