Elisabeth Moss built one of television’s great performances as June, a woman surviving a nightmare theocracy that dresses its cruelty in scripture. The first three seasons are some of the most tense and beautifully made drama of its era, and Moss directs several episodes herself with real skill.
The honest part: it runs two seasons too long, and the middle stretch repeats its own beats. But at its best, especially the escape arc, it is unforgettable. Start it, and when it starts circling, know the ending pays off the wait.
