The newest Trek: the first new series built for a new generation of characters, following cadets at the rebuilt Starfleet Academy in the 32nd century. Robert Picardo is back as the Doctor from Voyager (a fan service moment done right), Holly Hunter anchors the faculty, and the tone is the youngest and warmest the franchise has been in years.
Think of it as the Trek answer to a college drama: friendships, rivalries, first missions, and the eternal Star Trek question of what exploring actually costs. It premiered in January 2026 and has been renewed for a second season, making it the current flagship of the Paramount+ era.
Our take: 8/10. The freshest Trek in a decade, and a friendly on-ramp for newcomers.
