The Arrowverse’s B and C listers steal a timeship and the show becomes the best thing in the franchise. Legends of Tomorrow starts as a questionable heist crew of side characters and mutates, season by season, into the funniest, weirdest, most self-aware superhero show on television.
Time travel lets it do anything: a season in 1920s Hollywood, a trip to a theme park owned by a demonic. The cast turnover becomes a feature, Sara Lance is the best captain in the franchise, and the show’s willingness to mock its own universe is unmatched. Anyone who quit during the rocky first season missed the point entirely: the show was learning what it wanted to be, and what it wanted to be was glorious nonsense with a heart. Seven seasons, cancelled too soon, beloved unreservedly.
