One perfect season. A CDC investigator (Crystal Reed) returns to the Louisiana marshes where a biology experiment has gone wrong, and a dead man comes back as something older and greener than either of them.
DC’s horror entry gives the character the treatment he deserved: practical effects meet gothic Southern atmosphere, and the swamp itself is the star, rot and beauty in the same frame. Derek Mears embodies Alec Holland with real pathos under the moss, and the show understands that Swamp Thing stories are about grief and ecology, not fights. Famously cancelled days after its premiere for budget politics that had nothing to do with quality. Ten episodes, complete story, cult classic for a reason.
