The best Spider-Man film ever made, and the sentence that got old because it is also true. Phil Lord and the team rebuilt animation from the frame up, halftone dots, misregistered CMYK, hand drawn inbetweens, and then made Miles Morales a kid who wears a hoodie over his borrowed suit and learns that anyone can wear the mask.
97% on Rotten Tomatoes, an 8.4 on IMDb from 800K voters, an Oscar, and a theme, Spider-Man can be anyone, that reshaped how the industry animates comics on screen. The soundtrack, the Stan Lee cameo with its weight of hindsight, the Kingpin’s personal tragedy, every layer does more than its job.
