Our Review
A young William Adama, fresh out of the academy, gets posted to a rust bucket of a warship in the first Cylon war, and the result is BSG turned into a space dogfight movie. Luke Pasqualino plays young Adama with the right mix of cockiness and buried decency, and the viper combat is genuinely thrilling, all digital on a TV budget and mostly convincing.
The trouble is it is a pilot for a series that never happened, so the story is all setup and no payoff. Watched as a movie it is a fun two hours in the BSG universe, watched as a prequel it is a promise the mothership show never collects on. Only ok, exactly like you remember.
Our take: 6.5/10.
