Four HBO Max specials that gave the Land of Ooo the epilogues it deserved: BMO (the little robot’s solo space adventure — pure cartoon joy), Obsidian (Marceline and Bubblegum’s relationship — the show’s slow-burn romance finally centered, with a genuinely moving look at Marceline’s abandonment wounds), Wizard City (Peppermint Butler’s dark-magic comeback… — the… — the… — a… — the… — …), and Together Again — Finn and Jake reunited beyond… — the… — the afterlife journey that closes the brothers’ story with the most beautiful hour the franchise ever produced. “That was a good adventure.” It was.
