Thunder, thunder, thunder, ThunderCats, ho! The 1985 classic: the survivors of the dying planet Thundera crash land on Third Earth, and young Lion O must grow into the leader his Sword of Omens demands while Mumm Ra the Ever Living and the Mutants of Plun Darr come for them.
This was peak rank cartoon event television for a generation: the opening theme alone is burned into millions of brains, Panthro’s nunchucks and Cheetara’s speed staff were playground legend, and the show treated its mythology seriously enough that kids genuinely cared whether Thundera rose again. Snarf was the price we all agreed to pay.
Our take: 8.5/10.
