The best American mecha anime nobody talks about, made in Texas. Burnie Burns and Rooster Teeth built a war story set decades ahead where the United Free Territories are losing to the Union, soldier pilots buffer their minds through gen:LOCK tech just to survive the sync, and one pilot carries a secret the Union would burn a city to keep.
The political writing is the surprise. This is a war show about occupation, propaganda, and the way a peace proposal can be a weapon, with a second season that flips the cast’s loyalties on a table and makes you agree with the wrong side. The 3D animation is the most expensive Rooster Teeth ever attempted, the dogfighting reads like air combat, and the voice work, Michael B. Jordan as Chase, Maisie Williams, Asia Kate Dillon, commits.
