This is the Avengers cartoon Marvel Studios kept on the shelf next to the movies: same character models as the films, same voice actors where they could get them, stories that borrowed beats from the Cinematic Universe. It ran five seasons on Disney XD from 2013 to 2019, 126 episodes, and it is exactly as safe as that pitch sounds most of the time.
The good stretches know what the format is for. The Cantons of Civilization episodes drop the team into straight genre pictures, a heist show, a horror episode, a noir pastiche, and the show lets its writers play. The season two arc with the Collector and the Runaways crossover give the youngest members real moments. Roger Craig Smith’s Captain America carries the same earnest weight he brings to the games, and Fred Tatasciore’s Hulk is the best version of the character in any cartoon.
The honest number: 7.0 on IMDb from nearly 10K voters and a 69% average on Rotten Tomatoes. The filler episodes exist to sell lunchboxes, everyone knows it, and the show never risks the team staying changed after a fight. Watch the arc episodes and the genre experiments and it moves.
