After Spectacular got shelved, Marvel Animation pivoted hard: Peter Parker shipped off to a S.H.I.E.L.D. run high school where Nick Fury is the principal and every episode stops for a fourth wall wink. Drake Bell voices Peter, the format is half hour team bookings with Avengers cameos, and it leans on the fourth wall comedy that defined the Brian Michael Bendis Ultimate comics era for a decade.
Honest verdict: it is a different animal and much of the fanbase bounced. The serialized episodes, the Venom saga, the Secret Wars finale and the Superior Spider-Man arc are better than their reputation, and J.K. Simmons voicing J. Jonah Jameson years before anyone else recast him counts for something. 7.2 on IMDb across 104 episodes and four seasons is about right for a show that peaks in its long arcs and sags in its standalone weeks. Younger viewers adore it, and that is who it was built for.
It streams on Disney+, which is the easiest answer in this whole franchise. A session show for parents with kids eight and up, not a rewatch for the rest of us.
