Xena with a toga, aimed at kids: teen Hercules trains at the Prometheus Academy with wisecracking best pal Iolaus while Zeus fumbles and Hera schemes, borrowing the same snarky teen energy that made the live action Hercules and Xena episodes fun. Every figure in Greek mythology drops by to make everyone’s life worse.

The show is funniest when Hercules is an overpowered kid just trying to pass gym class, and the myth parodies, the Odyssey homework, the Icarus gym sessions, land more often than they miss. As a time capsule of syndication kids TV it is perfect: short, episodic, quotable.

A single short run of quick comedy episodes. Our score: 6/10. A guilty pleasure that knows exactly how guilty, and exactly how much pleasure.
