The direct sequel, set two years later. Shinn Asuka, a survivor who lost his family in the last war, is now the ace of ZAFT’s new force, and the peace he defends starts cracking the moment the show begins. Kira and Athrun return, but the spotlight belongs to Shinn, one of the most divisive leads in Gundam history, angry, grieving, and manipulated by people who know exactly how to use him.

Fifty more episodes of escalating mobile suit warfare, with some of the best action the franchise had produced to that point. The ending famously rushes, and fans argue about Shinn to this day, but the ride is spectacular and the debate is part of the fun.
