In the city of Judoh, after the mob was driven out, a special unit keeps the peace with a secret weapon: J, a seven foot android in a trench coat and hat who is polite, stubborn, and stronger than a truck. His partner is Daisuke Aurora, a laid back detective who treats the job like a beach vacation between meals. Together they chase smugglers, cults, and fire wielders across a steam punk city that feels alive.

This is early 2000s anime with real production muscle. The cityscapes are gorgeous, the fights hit hard, and J’s deadpan honesty against Daisuke’s grin makes the partnership work. The late Kazuki Yao voices J with warmth most shows would not attempt for a machine.

Twenty six episodes, a complete story, criminally forgotten. If you slept on it in 2002 like almost everyone did, this is the kind of find that makes digging worth it.
