The Master Chief finally came to live action and the results were, well, divisive. Pablo Schreiber fills the armor well, the production design brings the games’ hardware to life convincingly, and the space battles are legitimately great spectacle.
The controversy was the story choices: Chief removes his helmet, the Covenant plot diverges hard from canon, and Soren and Kwan’s side plots drift. Taken as its own sci fi war series rather than a beat for beat adaptation, it is solid, expensive looking entertainment with two strong seasons before the axe fell.
Our take: 7/10.
