Dave Filoni’s live-action continuation of Rebels: Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) hunts Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return while Sabine Wren trains — badly, impatiently — under her, and a new galaxy opens the saga’s map. The show is Rebels season 5 by other means: the World Between Worlds, Ezra Bridger’s return, and Baylan Skoll — the late Ray Stevenson as a fallen Jedi searching for something older than the Sith, the most compelling new character the Disney era has produced.

The duel choreography (Ahsoka vs. Skoll in the forest; the World Between Worlds episodes with Hayden Christensen’s Anakin as Ahsoka’s final test) is the best live-action saber work in years, and the atmosphere is Filoni’s mythic register — slow, sincere, heavy with legacy. It’s a fan-facing show whose pacing will test viewers who haven’t seen Rebels; for those who have, it’s the reunion the finale promised.

Verdict: Watch it — Rebels first if you can, and it hits twice as hard.
