What If…?
Our Review
The MCU’s multiverse anthology: The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright’s omniscient narrator) observes branching timelines — T’Challa as Star-Lord (Chadwick Boseman’s final performance, and a lovely one), Peggy Carter as Captain Carter, Doctor Strange losing himself to save his love (the episode that forces the Watcher to break his oath), the zombies, Party Thor — each a remix of MCU canon, animated in a painterly CG style with most of the original cast voicing.
The highs are genuinely great (the Doctor Strange tragedy, the Guardians-assembled finale), the lows are filler-flavored, and the multiverse-as-sketchbook concept holds. Later seasons continue the experiment with diminishing surprise but the same craft. For fans who want the canon loosened, it’s the sketchbook the movies will never be.
Verdict: Watch it — pick a premise that amuses you and dive in. The MCU’s most rewatchable snack food.
