The best Star Trek show of the modern era that nobody watched, because it premiered on Nickelodeon and died in the Paramount+ shuffle. Six young outcasts — Dal, Gwyn, Jankom Pog, Zero, Rok-Tahk, and Murf — find a buried Starfleet ship and a holographic Janeway (Kate Mulgrew returning), and the show becomes the perfect Trek gateway: a found-family learning what Starfleet’s ideals actually mean, one training program at a time.

The animation is movie-quality, the serialized storytelling is confident enough for kids and adults, and season 2’s time-travel arc brings the real Janeway and the Voyager legacy in with weight. The show’s earnestness — ideals taught, not preached — is the most Roddenberry thing in decades. Canceled twice, saved by Netflix for its final season; the story completes.

Verdict: Watch it with kids or alone. The gateway Trek — and genuinely great Trek, full stop.
