How far would you go for a dying friend? Por Você opens with a promise: a doctor vows to raise her best friend’s four children, and her tidy life in Rio de Janeiro cracks under grief, custody fights and a love she never planned for. Sheron Menezzes carries all of it, and she is winning enough that the show never quite sinks.

The trouble is that it rarely surprises. Thiago Lacerda and Alinne Moraes do sincere work in the romantic corner, Lucy Ramos lights up her scenes, and Renata Sorrah can steal an episode with one raised eyebrow. But the writing coasts on charm, softening complications instead of sharpening them, and big feelings resolve right on schedule.

Amaury Lorenzo rounds out the ensemble, and the production has the usual Globo polish: real streets, real light, a city that feels lived in. That sheen is both the appeal and the ceiling. This is agreeable television that never asks much of you.
