Our Review
Remaking Vale Tudo was asking for trouble. The 1988 original is sacred ground, the story of honest Raquel and her daughter Maria de Fátima, who trades every principle for fame and money. The 2025 version mostly justifies the risk: Taís Araújo grounds it as Raquel, and the shift from tabloid celebrity to influencer culture makes the greed feel current instead of nostalgic.
Bella Campos has the harder job as Maria de Fátima and makes the vanity comprehensible without softening it, while Renato Góes, Cauã Reymond and Débora Bloch fill out a cast that knows exactly what story it is telling. The national whodunit around who killed Odete Roitman lands a second time, proof that the plotting under the spectacle was always sound.
What it loses is rawness. The original felt dangerous; this one is slicker and a shade safer, and some of the modern touches work as decoration rather than critique.
All 173 chapters are streaming on Globoplay. Our score: 7/10. Tonight this is the pick if you want a classic retold with conviction, and you never need to have seen the 1988 version.
