Yo Joe! The 1983 Sunbow animated series that turned a Hasbro toy line into Saturday morning legend. The Joes, America’s elite special missions force, battle Cobra Commander and the forces of Cobra Command week after week with lasers that never quite hit anyone, vehicles that sold like crazy, and the public service announcements that became pop culture scripture: knowing is half the battle.

Rewatching it as an adult is pure comfort: the five part miniseries arcs play like miniature war epics, Duke and Scarlet and Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are still iconic designs, and the show’s sincerity is its superpower. Four seasons of unpretentious action adventure that built generations of fans.
