Filhos do Divino

Early Word: in January 2027 TV Globo returns to the Divino neighborhood. Filhos do Divino is the sequel to Avenida Brasil, the 2012 revenge phenomenon that stopped Brazil cold, and it arrives with names that mean everything to anyone who lived through it: Adriana Esteves, Débora Falabella, Murilo Benício, Cauã Reymond and Marcello Novaes.

What is known so far is promising. The premise puts Carminha, the stepmother the world loved to hate, on a path toward redemption while the children of the original characters confront the past she buried. That is a smart inversion: the villain becomes the seeker, and the next generation becomes the judge.

Expectations could not be higher, and reasonably so. Avenida Brasil traveled the globe and still defines how people talk about Brazilian soap abroad, so any sequel carries an audience already waiting and a license to disappoint. Redeeming Carminha is the boldest possible move, the kind that either deepens the original or cheapens it.

It premieres on TV Globo on January 25, 2027, streams on Globoplay, and has been announced internationally under the Avenida Brasil 2 banner. Keep this one on your radar: a sequel to a national obsession with this much talent attached comes along once in a generation, and the first episode will be an event.
