Our Review
The anthology that refuses to die reaches installment thirteen, and leans into the number with a season that promises the return of beloved by fans cast members reprising fan favorite roles. Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s creation remains the most consistently inconsistent show on television: across twelve previous installments it has been brilliant (Murder House, Asylum, Coven’s first half), unwatchable (several we won’t name), and everything between, sometimes within a single season. That unpredictability is the brand. The three episode premiere structure suggests a more deliberate pace than recent frenetic entries, and the promise of legacy cast reprisals makes this the most fan forward season since Apocalypse stitched together Murder House and Coven. Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and the rotating company of AHS regulars remain the best ensemble in horror TV, capable of elevating schlock into camp and camp into something genuinely frightening. Approach with the usual contract: the first three episodes will hook you, the middle will wander, the finale will overreach. The ride, as ever, is the point.
