Avatar: Seven Havens
Cast & Key People
Our Review
Twelve years after The Legend of Korra signed off, DiMartino and Konietzko are back in the driver’s seat with the first series from Avatar Studios, and it earns the wait. Set 225 years after Korra, in a world still reeling from a cataclysm, the series follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she is the next Avatar, and is greeted not with celebration but as a harbinger of doom. She and her twin race to save the Seven Havens while humans and spirits alike hunt them.
The 2D animation is the headline: hand-drawn in the classic Nickelodeon style, it is what fans have been asking for since the franchise went photoreal. The voice cast (Saheli Khan, Aishu Devan, Akshay Khanna, Dee Bradley Baker, Sakina Jaffrey) commits completely, and the Book 1 structure (13 episodes, weekly drops) rebuilds the water-cooler rhythm the franchise had lost.
Paramount+ renewed it for Books 3 and 4 at New York Comic Con before Book 1 even finished airing, and announced the prequel series Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos alongside it. The runway is enormous. Watch Book 1 now, episodes land weekly through Oct. 30.
