Renascer is hallowed material, the 1993 cacao epic set in Ilhéus, Bahia, and the 2024 remake treats it with visible respect. Marcos Palmeira anchors the whole thing as José Inocêncio, the stubborn farmer whose land, loves and house full of sons test the legend he built, and the hops between two timelines let the show argue with its own mythology.

Juan Paiva, Theresa Fonseca, Giullia Buscacio and Juliana Paes populate the family tree with conviction, and the Bahia landscapes do half the storytelling. Where the original was rougher, this version is handsomer and more curated, which will bother purists more than newcomers.

The fidelity is mostly a strength. The remake trusts quiet scenes a modern soap would compress, and it usually earns that patience, though the middle stretch sags under everything it refuses to cut. The 2024 run stretched from January into September, a proper marathon for devoted viewers.
