Jefferson Pierce retired the suit years ago. He is a high school principal now, and the show treats that as the superpower: this is a CW drama about a community, police violence, and what a Black hero owes his neighborhood, with lightning as the last resort instead of the first move.
Cress Williams plays Pierce with real gravity, and the show’s refusal to stay in CW’s lane is its identity: school board politics and gang warfare get as much screen time as the fights. The daughters (China Anne McClain’s Jennifer especially) come into their own powers and steal the show. Four seasons, crossover-light, better for it. The most grounded and political show in the Arrowverse family, and one of the most underrated.
