The Battlestar Galactica prequel that asked a fair question: how did the Cylons begin? The answer it gives is genuinely interesting, a story about grief, monotheism, and a tech dynasty building the first robot consciousness out of a dead daughter’s digital ghost. Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales anchor it, and Paula Malcomson is excellent.
But it is the flattest thing Ronald D. Moore ever made. Where BSG was a thriller, Caprica is a soap opera with a sci fi chassis, and it burns slow enough that Syfy pulled the plug after one season. The BSG fandom’s honest verdict, and ours: worth watching for completists, only ok as its own show.
