A plague wipes out most of humanity and a geologist survivor tries to build meaning from what remains, in this quiet take on the classic novel. Alexander Ludwig holds the center well, and the small scale is a nice change from apocalyptic action.
The pacing tests patience and the adaptation streamlines a lot of the book’s philosophy. A contemplative take on the end of the world.
