The precinct sitcom with the best ensemble on broadcast TV. Andy Samberg’s Jake Peralta is a manchild detective who is actually great at his job, and around him the show builds one of the deepest comedy benches ever: Holt’s deadpan captain is an all timer, and Rosa, Terry, Gina, Amy, and Boyle each carry episodes on their own.
The first five seasons are the peak (the Halloween heists alone are a perfect sitcom tradition), the show handles its serious cop-show moments with more grace than expected, and it ended before wearing out its welcome, which is rarer than it should be.
Start at season 1, breeze through, and thank us at the heist episodes.
Our take: 8.5/10. The most reliably funny network comedy of the 2010s.
