Generations of the Joestar family, each fighting a bizarre battle against an escalating rogues gallery of vampires, Stand users, and men named Dio. No anime has more range: every part swaps protagonist, tone, setting, and art style, and somehow it all hangs together as one family saga.
Start with the 2012 anime at Part 1 (or skip straight to Part 2, where it gets great), and know that the fandom’s favorite advice is true: the show reboots itself constantly, so if a part does not grab you, the next one is a fresh start. Parts 2 (Battle Tendency) and 4 (Diamond is Unbreakable) are the fan favorites, and Part 7, the manga’s Steel Ball Run, is considered one of the greatest manga runs ever made.
The memes are real, the poses are real, and the show is a genuinely gripping battle series underneath all the fabulous.
Our take: 9/10. There is nothing else like it, and there never will be.
