Our Review

Akira Toriyama’s final work, and it plays like a love letter to the whole series. After a mysterious wish turns Goku and friends small again, the crew dives into the Demon Realm for a 20 episode adventure that feels like the original Dragon Ball’s travelogue spirit wearing Z’s power levels.

Toriyama passed away before it aired, and you can feel his hand everywhere: the character designs, the gags, the world logic that turns demons into a functioning society with bureaucracies and paperwork. It is smaller in scale than Super on purpose, a complete story with a beginning, middle and end, and no filler at all.

Newcomers can genuinely start here: it explains what you need and tells its own story. Veterans will spot a hundred little callbacks.

Our take: 8/10. A warm, complete, beautifully made victory lap from the man who started it all.
