A boy searches for the father who abandoned him by taking the world’s deadliest licensing exam, and Yoshihiro Togashi’s masterpiece unfolds arc after arc of escalating genius: a tournament that isn’t, a video game that is real, a war between ants and humanity that becomes one of the best stories ever told in any medium.
The Chimera Ant arc is the peak of long form storytelling in anime. Long, yes. Worth every episode, yes. Start the 2011 version and don’t stop.
