Kevin Costner’s John Dutton runs the largest ranch in Montana and defends it like a feudal lord: politicians, land developers, and his own children all get the treatment. Taylor Sheridan’s flagship is a soap opera in a cowboy hat, and it knows it.
The scenery is gorgeous, the scheming is fun, Beth Dutton is one of TV’s great wrecking balls, and Rip is the loyal enforcer every show like this needs. It ended its run in 2024, broader and messier by the end, but the first seasons are a genuinely great modern Western. Streams on Peacock, famously, not Paramount+.
