Iron Fist
Our Review
The Netflix Marvel era’s stumble: Danny Rand, presumed dead fifteen years, returns to New York as the Immortal Iron Fist — a barefoot billionaire with a glowing hand and the emotional regulation of a golden retriever, fighting the Hand with kung fu the choreography couldn’t deliver. Finn Jones plays Danny as a petulant trust-fund seeker nobody wants to listen to, and the show keeps putting him in boardrooms instead of fights.
The execution fails everywhere the concept needed it: the fights are under-rehearsed (damning after Daredevil‘s hallway standard), the Meachum boardroom drama devours the screentime the mysticism needed, and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick, the show’s best performance by a mile) makes you wish the show followed her instead. Season 2 improves the fights before the cancellation. The Defenders crossover used the character better than his own show did.
Verdict: Skip it — the “watch this not that” of the Marvel Netflix canon. Watch Colleen’s scenes, or just rewatch Daredevil.
