Kids’ WB put Granny in charge of a detective agency, gave her a suitcase, a mustache, and a cat with a lisp problem, and got five seasons of travel mystery wearing Looney Tunes skin. Each episode runs the same loop: Granny is invited somewhere glamorous, someone steals something, Sylvester chases Tweety through the evidence, and a very old woman outsmarts everyone.
June Foray plays Granny like she is in on a joke nobody else gets, and Joe Alaskey is a whole studio of sound effects as Sylvester. The writers treat the formula as a playground rather than a cage, sending the cast through Egypt, Paris, the Malibu of a movie star cougar, and a Hawaiian volcano, and the mystery plotting is real enough that kids could follow the clues. It is the closest a Saturday morning cartoon got to Murder, She Wrote with a bulldog.
Short episodes, low stakes, and 91 chances to enjoy it, mostly on the streaming shelves where Warner keeps its 90s animation. Good background viewing, better shared viewing.
