The strangest death in franchise history: a YA horror film, actually filmed, shelved for two years while the Fox merger processed it, released into empty theaters with no trailer and no campaign. The 5.3 on IMDb is a number attached to a movie almost nobody saw, and what exists is a competent haunted house piece, Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy as the emotional center, a hospital purgatory that is a metaphor the film never quite has the nerve to finish.

The reshoots stripped the horror down to a PG-13 action cut and you can see the scars, the final act is a different movie than the first two. The cast alone is worth the price: this is the first screening for a lot of careers that went on to matter.
