Greg Weisman’s show understood something most Spider-Man adaptations miss: Peter Parker is the hard part. Two seasons, 26 episodes, and not one wastes time on the bite. The series opens with Peter already three months into the job, and it spends its real budget on the lie, the grades, Aunt May’s dinner table, the girls, the job, all of it colliding with a rogues’ gallery animated with more care than the Disney+ shows that came later.
Josh Keaton’s Peter has the right stammer and the right wit, the suit design sticks close to Steve Ditko, and the villain roster works like a slow burn season arc: seven teachers at Midtown High, several of them supervillains by Friday. The Sinister Six assembly, the Goblin identity mystery that ran the entire second season, the Flash Thompson with actual depth. It ran a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes across its review pool and holds 8.4 on IMDb.
It died on a licensing handoff between Sony and Marvel, which remains the single most criminal cancellation in superhero television. No streaming home in the US right now; episodes buy cheap on Prime Video and Apple. Two seasons of 13, watch them in a weekend, thank us later.
