Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer take the buddy action comedy and run off with it across half of Europe. Waddingham plays Judith, a veteran assassin whose firm decides she is a WOACA, a woman of a certain age, and who then watches one job unravel right in front of her best friend Debbie (Spencer). The discovery that your lifelong book club friend kills people for a living is the whole engine, and for eight episodes it mostly carries the show.
The two leads are the reason to watch. Spencer plays Debbie’s outrage like a woman renegotiating thirty years of friendship at gunpoint, and Waddingham pivots from Ted Lasso warmth to genuine action star brutality without missing a beat. When the show keeps them trapped together in a train car or a hotel room, forcing out confessions between gunfights, it is as much fun as anything Prime Video put out this year.
The problem is everything around them. Creator Tessa Coates and showrunner Matt Miller stack an Albanian mob, an Interpol romance, a handler subplot, and a backstory villain until the middle episodes sag under conspiracies nobody asked for. The finale still lands the emotional bill, but you feel the eight episode order stretching.
Prime Video canceled the show in September 2026 after one season and Paramount TV Studios is shopping it elsewhere. The cliffhanger may never pay off, which stings because the friendship at the center absolutely earned one more trip. Watch it for the two leads. They are worth the unresolved ending.
