A pompadoured gym rat with Elvis lips and zero self awareness flexes at women who recoil, and the joke holds for three seasons because Van Partible built the perfect machine: Johnny never learns, never lands, and never stops trying. The Cartoon Network era was full of loud characters; Bravo is the one whose loudness is the entire point, delivered at a 15-minute runtime that never wears out its premise.
The segments behind him are the underrated half: Little Suzy out scheming the muscle, the Johnny Bravo meets… episodes (he wanders into Hanna-Barbera reruns like a confident gremlin), and an obsession with 1950s rock that gave the whole show its soundtrack swagger. It is a cartoon built from attitudes rather than plots, and it hits its ceiling by design: you are watching for the next entrance, not the story.
For a kids’ show from the fleabag era of cable, its gag timing still embarrasses most of what followed it.
