A boy joins the demon slayer corps after his family is slaughtered and his sister is turned, and the quest to cure her drives a gorgeous, surprisingly emotional adventure. Ufotable’s animation turns every fight into a painting, and the Mugen Train movie broke box office records for a reason.

The story is simple and sincere, sometimes to a fault, but the craft is so far beyond its peers that it hardly matters. Tanjiro’s decency is the heart of it. Easy to start, hard to stop.
