Amazon’s globe-trotting spy epic — reportedly the most expensive show ever made after its chaotic reshoots — and a perfect illustration that money can’t buy chemistry. Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas play elite spies whose memories were wiped after their agency, Citadel, was destroyed by Manticore; reactivated years later, they rebuild their memories and their marriage while chasing the doomsday device. The production is lavish: globetrotting sets, stunt work, wardrobe. The result is a spy show as perfume commercial — beautiful, expensive, forgettable.

Stanley Tucci is delightful and collects his paycheck with dignity; the leads are attractive professionals delivering attractive line readings with the romantic heat of two accountants. The twists are mechanical; the action is stylish but weightless. Watch it with your brain in a drawer.

Verdict: Skip it — this is a Watch This Not That. For globe-trotting spy craft with actual soul, watch The Americans or Slow Horses instead.
