The best travel show ever made, and one of the best shows of any kind of its decade. Bourdain went to the Congo, Libya, Iran, Myanmar, the Bronx, and everywhere in between, eating what locals ate and asking the questions other travel shows were too polite or too scared to ask. No hotel recommendations, no tourist traps, just food as a doorway into how people actually live.

By the later seasons it was less a food show than a long, beautiful essay about mortality, curiosity, and the ethics of paying attention. His loss still stings, and the show remains both his monument and the reason the appetite he fed in all of us will never quite be satisfied again. Watch it slowly.
