Episode Summary & Review
Summary
In 1988 after seeing his mother Meredith die, Peter Quill is abducted by a group of Ravengers led by Yondu Udonta sent by the Celestial planet Ego. However rather than having a change of heart and raising Quill as his own, Yondu gave him to Ego as originally planned. Taking his walkman away, Ego raised him beginning to show his Expansion plan.
Our Take
A fun alternate history setup that pays off the premise well, imagining an Avengers lineup assembled decades early to fight an alien threat. The 1988 setting gives it a distinct flavor, and Ego makes for a genuinely creepy villain here. Some of the new hero introductions feel rushed, but the action moves and the stakes land. Worth a watch.
