Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney attempt a takeover of the world’s third oldest professional football (a.k.a. soccer) club, located in Wrexham, a working class town in northern Wales in the United Kingdom.
Our Take
A solid setup episode that mostly works because the town itself is more interesting than the celebrity buyers. Reynolds and McElhenney are charming but a bit too polished in their interviews, while the local fans and shopkeepers give the hour its real weight. Worth a watch if you like underdog sports stories, just don’t expect much football yet.
