Summary
While the Runaways deal with revelations about Topher’s life and his addiction to the rocks, Frank and Leslie disagree about Jonah’s interference in Karolina’s life and Gert goes to extreme measure to get medication for her anxiety.
Our Take
Rock Bottom splits its attention three ways and only the Topher material really lands, mostly because the show finally gives him some texture beyond “shifty new guy.” The Frank and Leslie argument retreads ground we’ve covered before, and Gert’s storyline is more sad than tense. A middling hour that coasts on decent character work without moving much forward.
