Episode Summary & Review
Summary
While Skyler’s past catches up with her, Walt covers his tracks. Jesse continues to struggle with his guilt.
Our Take
Ozymandias. Directed by Rian Johnson, written by Moira Walley-Beckett, and it is the best episode of television ever aired. Hank dies in the desert (“My name is ASAC Schrader, and you can go fuck yourself”); Jesse is captured and tortured into slavery; Skyler and Walt Jr. learn everything on a knife’s edge (the kitchen knife fight is the series’ most violent scene and nobody fires a shot); Walt steals the baby; and the phone call — Walt performing the monster for the police wire, destroying his own name to exonerate Skyler — is the most devastating acting of Cranston’s career. Everything falls in fifty-two minutes. Nothing on television has ever topped it.
