A Netflix crime caper that plays like a Coen brothers knockoff written by committee. Édgar Ramírez plays a disgraced cop dragged back to his home state to find a runaway mobster’s girlfriend, and the plot piles on dead bodies, hidden gold, and colorful lowlifes with the enthusiasm of a buffet cook. The problem: none of it means anything. Where a true Florida noir would lean into the beautiful weirdness of the actual state, this show gestures at it with pastel postcards and wacky news headlines.
It’s watchable. Ramírez is always good, and the episodic treasure hunt structure moves, but you’ll forget it by dinner. A show called Florida Man should feel like a sunstroke fever dream; this feels like a pitch meeting.
Verdict: Watch This Not That, this is the “not that.” If you want actual Sunshine State sleaze, watch The Righteous Gemstones or rewatch Justified instead.
