Florida Man
Our Review
A Netflix crime caper that plays like a Coen brothers knockoff written by committee. Édgar Ramírez plays a disgraced cop dragged back to his home state to find a runaway mobster’s girlfriend, and the plot piles on dead bodies, hidden gold, and colorful lowlifes with the enthusiasm of a buffet cook. The problem: none of it means anything. Where a true Florida-noir would lean into the beautiful weirdness of the actual state, this show gestures at it with pastel postcards and wacky news headlines.
It’s watchable — Ramírez is always good, and the episodic treasure-hunt structure moves — but you’ll forget it by dinner. A show called Florida Man should feel like a sunstroke fever dream; this feels like a pitch meeting.
Verdict: Watch This Not That — this is the “not that.” If you want actual Sunshine State sleaze, watch The Righteous Gemstones or rewatch Justified instead.
