Our Review
A prototype supercar, a rotating team of police test drivers, and a premise lifted so straight from Knight Rider that only the transformer gimmick counts as original. Viper’s car reconfigures from a sleek interceptor to an armored pursuit vehicle, the entire sales pitch was a toy commercial, and the toy outsold the show that made it.
Syndication budgets show in every frame: thin characters, recycled desert stock footage, dialogue written to leave room for the chase. The cast plays it straight, the show found its audience, and that was good enough for five seasons in first run syndication and not enough for anyone’s memory. It airs today as wallpaper for people who like cars more than plots, which is fair, because the cars are the only department fully funded.
Loan yourself the stunt reels and skip the dialogue between ignitions.
Our score: 5/10.
