The weekly series is where Aladdin actually lived for most fans for a decade. Treasure hunting through mythology, with wisecracking parrot Iago at full Gilbert Gottfried volume, Abu along for thefts, Genie on call, and a rotating gallery of sorcerers and gods trying to steal the Hand of Midas, the show’s genuine serialized MacGuffin.
Scott Weinger keeps Aladdin an everyman you root for, and the best episodes, including the Sinbad team-ups and the season finale two parter, have real adventure pacing with actual stakes. The comedy bit quota is high and the filler is real, but the peaks are some of the best Saturday morning storytelling Disney ever made.
The villain of the week structure hides a continuity arc that actually pays off, rare for its era. Our score: 8/10. Worth it for the finale alone.
